VT406 DC Current converter
Description
The VT406 / DC current transceiver transmits measured current data from the HOS-100Q1 ammeter to the Vutlan monitoring device.
This plug-and-play transceiver easily connects to any analog port of Vutlan monitoring devices. The HOS-100Q1 is a simple open-loop DC ammeter capable of measuring DC currents in the range of ±100A.
The maximum amount of sensors can be extended using the VT408 / Sensor extension unit.

Use cases
Here are additional use cases for the HOS-100Q1 DC current transducer and the VT406 DC current transceiver:
- Solar Power Monitoring: Used to track the current flowing between solar panels and batteries or inverters in photovoltaic systems. The HOS-100Q1 monitors the DC current from solar arrays, and the VT406 transfers the data to the monitoring system for performance analysis and fault detection.
- Wind Power Systems: In wind turbines, the DC current generated is monitored to ensure proper charging of storage systems or grid feedback, helping to maintain optimal system performance.
- Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations: Monitoring the DC current flow between the grid and electric vehicles during the charging process to ensure safe and efficient charging. Abnormalities can be detected, preventing overcharging or electrical faults in the charging system.
- Battery Discharge Monitoring: Measure the DC current to detect how much current is being drawn from batteries in backup power systems, such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), or electric vehicle batteries.
- Battery Charging Control: Ensuring that charging currents are within safe limits, optimizing the lifespan of the batteries and ensuring their reliability.
- Power Monitoring: The combination of HOS-100Q1 and VT406 helps monitor the power consumption of critical infrastructure in data centers, particularly in high-density server environments. It ensures that power draw from servers, cooling systems, and other equipment stays within optimal limits.
- Power Backup Systems: In telecom facilities, where uninterrupted power is crucial, HOS-100Q1 can monitor the current flow from backup batteries to ensure proper performance during power outages, with VT406 transferring that data for remote monitoring.
- Motor Current Monitoring: In automation and robotics, monitoring the DC current supplied to motors can help in predictive maintenance. The HOS-100Q1 ensures that motors operate within safe current ranges, while the VT406 helps integrate this data into a larger control system.
- Process Control Systems: The transducer can be used in manufacturing plants to monitor currents in machinery, ensuring they are operating efficiently without overloading.
- Monitoring the power supply for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in large commercial or industrial buildings. This ensures that the current load remains stable and identifies potential issues before equipment fails.
